GRANTS FOR PROGRAMS OR SERVICES

All applicants must complete an application form on the grant portal.  The application requires that the organization provides a brief description of the project for which funds are being requested and verification of the applicant's Internal Revenue Service 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
Applications must be consistent with the Foundation's mission: “For the enhancement and understanding of Judaism, its people and traditions.”

Calendar

Applications must be received through the online grant portal (below). There are two grant submission deadlines: April 30, 2025, and October 31, 2025. Grant applicants will be notified about funding decisions by email in writing at a date and time to be announced.

MISSION

Grants to programs and projects for the enhancement and understanding of Judaism, its people and traditions.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of five carefully selected individuals who are representative of the Jewish community in the Quad Cities.

Distribution Decisions

The Board of Directors consists of five carefully selected members of the Jewish community who serve without compensation. The Board determines which programs of local agencies or organizations will receive financial assistance from the Foundation.

Guidelines

The Foundation supports programs and projects that are consistent with its mission. However, the Foundation does not normally fund for the following purposes:
  • Organizations and programs designed to influence legislation or elect candidates to public office.
  • Non-Jewish sectarian or religious groups.
  • Trips, tours, tickets, or tables for benefit purposes.
  • Advertising for benefit purposes.

Quad Cities area teachers attended a day-long workshop on Holocaust Education, a mandatory classroom subject in Illinois and Iowa, thanks to a grant from the Rauch Family Foundation II.

GRANTS FOR INDIVIDUALS

Jewish summer camp

The Rauch Family Foundation II and the Jewish Federation of the Quad Cities collaborate to offer scholarships for Jewish children who wish to attend a Jewish summer camp.

Eligibility
Jewish children who apply must be age 18 or younger.
Applicants must be residents of the greater Quad Cities area or have family in the
greater Quad Cities area.

Scholarship details
The Rauch Family Foundation II and Jewish Federation’s grants to qualified youth shall not exceed a total of $1,500 from the two organizations, or $750 from each organization. Members of Temple Emanuel may apply to their synagogue for assistance.  Exceptions may be considered case-by-case for applicants whose families cannot contribute their share of the cost.

Scholarships will be awarded for one year at a time. A camp scholarship will not be considered a precedent for a grant in any subsequent year.

Application deadline
Applications must be submitted by April 30 to the Jewish Federation of the Quad Cities to be considered for a scholarship in the summer of that year,

Post-secondary education scholarships

Eligibility
Students of the Jewish faith are eligible for scholarships for post-secondary (post-high school) education. The student must be enrolled or about to enroll in a post-secondary educational institution, including a college, university, trade, or business school, or a graduate, post-graduate, or professional school. Applicants must be residents of the greater Quad Cities area. An applicant will not be awarded a Jewish/Middle Eastern Studies grant in the same year as a post-secondary grant.

Award Amounts
Scholarships may be awarded in amounts of up to $3,500 per year to any single student. The number and the amount of scholarship grants awarded are at the discretion of the Board of Directors. The number of scholarships and the amount of each award depends upon the amounts awarded by the Foundation for other purposes. A scholarship grant made for one year does not constitute a precedent for future grants.

Applications are due by April 30, with scholarship funds for the following Fall semester.

Use
The Internal Revenue Service requires that grants must be paid directly to the educational institution attended by the grantee. Grants can only be used for qualified tuition, books, related expenses, and room and board.

Post-Secondary Jewish or Middle Eastern Studies Grants

Eligibility
Jewish students are eligible who are age 25 or younger and who are participating in post-secondary Jewish or Middle Eastern studies at a college or university. An applicant will not be awarded a post-secondary grant in the same year as a Jewish/Middle Eastern Studies grant. The Board of Directors of the Rauch Family Foundation II will make the final determination of eligibility at their discretion. Primary selection factors include academic ability and the student’s motivation to obtain a degree in Jewish or Middle Eastern studies. The Board of Directors may request a written essay or an interview with an applicant. Applicants must be residents of the greater Quad Cities area.

Awards for travel to the State of Israel

Awards are available for any person of the Jewish faith age 18 and older who wishes to travel to the State of Israel.
Award amounts.
A maximum of $750 is available per person. These grant awards are available on a first- come, first-served basis, and are limited to one per lifetime.
